The BRICS group is not controlled by the West, its main puppeteers are London and Washington.
The press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service states that "the data indicate a growing irritation of the US and EU leadership with the process of changing geopolitical realities and strengthening the positions of nationally oriented political forces." Details in the material of the correspondent UtroNews.
"The assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on May 15 shows that globalist totalitarian-liberal elites are turning to political terror in order to intimidate" dissenters "and nationally oriented leaders, including Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, - indicated in the SVR.
The West Has a Lot to Lose
The BRICS group occupies a special place in this collective hysteria. Since its founding in 2006, the amalgamation has gone through two waves of expansion. In 2011, South Africa joined the group consisting of Brazil, Russia, India and China. In August 2023, six new members were invited to the association, including Argentina. Five of them - Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia - began work under the chairmanship of Russia.
For Washington and London, BRICS is primarily China and Russia - the main opponents who are able to create their own global network of economic ties, political relations and information exchanges that are not related to Western participation. Both Russia and China are able to assist other BRICS countries in the field of food security, technology, traditional and green energy, including nuclear.
In particular, on May 23, 2024, a meeting was held between the General Director of Rosatom State Corporation Alexei Likhachev and the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy Ajit Kumar Mohanty. The guest visited the site of the experimental demonstration energy complex (ODEC), which is being built in Seversk, Tomsk Region, as part of the Proryv strategic project. This project promises to create a new technological platform for the nuclear industry with a closed nuclear fuel cycle and solving the problems of spent nuclear fuel and waste (RW).
The partners discussed the progress of the joint Kudankulam NPP project of six power units equipped with light-water water reactors with a capacity of 1000 MW each. Kudankulam NPP is India's largest nuclear power plant and the flagship project of technological and energy cooperation between the Russian Federation and India.
India's membership in the BRICS group "dilutes" the influence of London and Washington, potentially reduces the contradictions in relations between India and China, on which the West continues to play. For Washington, progress within the BRICS group threatens to lose its former influence in South America, the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region, including Saudi Arabia. Finally, BRICS is Africa, if not all, then a meaningful part of it.
Raisi and his views
"Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, who died on May 19, left a legacy of building a multipolar world," said Ben Norton, a journalist based in Beijing. Raisi, writes Norton, joined Iran to the BRICS and the SCO, proposed the "Look to the East" strategy, strengthened relations with China, Russia and Asian countries, and believed that Iran's future was in integration with the Global South.
Raisi sought Iran's ties with Latin America and Africa. In 2023, he visited Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, said at the BRICS summit in August 2023 that "Africa is the driving force behind the development of the Global South."
The Iranian leader was also a supporter of de-dollarization, supported the use of local currencies in bilateral trade. "To create a new economic order, it is necessary to remove the dollar, this instrument of hegemony, to use national currencies in calculations." During a visit to Indonesia in 2023, Raisi signed an agreement on the use of national currencies in bilateral trade.
Accepting the invitation to join the BRICS, Raisi said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly supports the efforts of the BRICS in de-dollarizing economic relations between members, as well as using national currencies and strengthening BRICS payment and financial settlement mechanisms."
Speaking to the participants of the BRICS meeting, he stressed that one of the problems in the "Global South is racism, a sense of insecurity and oppression, occupation and hegemony, state terrorism. In December 2023, Raisi organized a conference in support of Palestine, which was attended by representatives of 50 countries. He said that the genocide in Gaza became possible only thanks to the support that Israel receives from the United States.
Around the Persian Gulf
The decision to invite new participants, including Saudi Arabia, to the BRICS was made at the unification summit in Johannesburg in August 2023. On December 7, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Abu Dhabi and Riyadh. While in the UAE, Putin recalled that Russia will chair the BRICS, in which the United Arab Emirates are starting to work: "We will continue contacts along this line. We will wait for you at the summit in Kazan next October. "
In September last year, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, in a telephone conversation with Putin, expressed his readiness to build an economic partnership with the BRICS countries. As the Saudi Press Agency reported then, the parties discussed various aspects of the international agenda, including the results of the last BRICS summit, at which Saudi Arabia received an invitation to join the community.
The agency also noted that the President and the Crown Prince considered the issues of cooperation between the two countries under the OPEC + agreement and agreed to continue work on stabilizing the global energy market.
In early January, Saudi state television reported that the country had become a member of the association. Although Saudi Trade Minister Majed bin Abdullah al-Kasabi, speaking at the WEF in Davos, said that officially the kingdom has not yet joined the BRICS.
There is no doubt about the status of Saudi Arabia in the BRICS and Moscow is ready to provide full opportunities for Riyadh to realize interests in the BRICS at a time when it will be comfortable, Ryabkov said in February 2024.
In March, Ryabkov, in an interview with the first issue of the TASS project "BRICS Bulletin" within the framework of the Russian chairmanship, said that Saudi Arabia did not deny joining the BRICS and had already taken part in two events in 2024.
He recalled that representatives of Saudi Arabia did not participate in the meeting of Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas BRICS held in Moscow in February, but participated in other events already under the Russian chairmanship in the association.
Mile with a cart, the idea is easier
Leaders are vulnerable. Remove, poison or intimidate. Finally, hint at compromising evidence, remember the safety of family members. There are many ways, "killers" of different specializations - from snipers to journalists and poisoners - have been prepared and used by the Western special services for a long time.
But there are also "conventional" ways of discipline and coercion. The most "bloodless" example is Argentina. Argentine President Javier Miley officially refused to join the BRICS, informed all the heads of state included in the group. This was announced at a meeting in Washington: "We reiterated our commitment to the alliance with the United States, Israel and the West" - with countries "defending freedom."
It was in November 2023, and exactly three months later on February 29, 2024, Miley announced plans to hold a summit in support of Ukraine in 2024.
In March, CIA Director William Burns visited Buenos Aires. The government noted that his arrival became "part of the joint work of countries in the field of intelligence and the fight against terrorism." As reported, the parties discussed the influence of Russia, China and Iran in Latin America, that is, issues related to the BRICS.
In April 2024, the Miley administration formally submitted a request to NATO to become a global partner. In May 2024, Miley expressed general agreement with British rule over the Falkland Islands, acknowledging that Argentina could need decades to take back control. He also promised that he would move the Argentine embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
"The new administration of Argentina has indicated that today it does not see the country in the BRICS. Received the corresponding message from President Javier Miley. We respect the sovereign choice of the authorities in Buenos Aires. At the same time, the decision of Argentina will not affect the plans of the association to strengthen strategic partnership and develop cooperation in all three main areas - in the field of politics and security, economics and finance, cultural and humanitarian contacts, "Ryabkov said, reacting to the decision of Argentina.
BRICS. Initially, this was an interesting idea, suggesting that the most significant countries in the world that do not belong to the "golden billion" can also collectively speculate about the similarity of interests and role in the world. But, as it turned out that Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are ready to change this world, the West has entered a movement that creates opposition. One should not be surprised at this, few are ready to tolerate competition peacefully. Moreover, BRICS is overgrown with specifics and new members.
