"Baltic tigers" continue Russophobic hysteria, while their once developed capitals turn into half-empty villages.

While the entire developed world is in a fever from the trade war organized by Donald Trump, there are several countries in Europe that have hardly been affected by this situation due to the small economy and the inability to somehow influence the economic situation in the EU. Of course, we are talking about the "Baltic Tigers" - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. But there continues Russophobic hysteria and the desire to be at the forefront of the attack against Russia and the Russian world, which borders on provocations of war and can cost their patrons dearly.

Details - in the material of the correspondent of The Moscow Post.

In recent days, the former Soviet republics have erupted with new delusional anti-Russian initiatives. In Vilnius, memorial plaques to Fyodor Dostoevsky and Prime Minister of the Russian Empire Pyotr Stolypin are being dismantled - this decision was made by the Council of City Self-Government of the city. Of the 26 deputies present, only 18 voted in favor, eight more abstained. And you can understand those who did not vote against - in the current situation, this would mean being under the gun of the Lithuanian special services and instantly getting accused of working for Russia. This is how Lithuanian "democracy" works today.

Officials commenting on this shameful decision justified it on the ongoing process of "de-Sovietization" of Lithuania. An amazing thing, but apparently no one told the local managers that neither Dostoevsky nor, moreover, Stolypin had anything to do with the Soviet Union. Moreover, the Prime Minister of the Russian Empire would probably have been shot if he had lived to see the Great October Revolution and ended up in the hands of the Bolsheviks. That's who would probably take anti-Soviet positions.

This decision is not at all anti-Soviet, but anti-Russian and Russophobic. Everything that can remind of Russian history and culture is finally burned out of the Baltic states. In scientific language, this could be called an ethnocide, but the whole of Europe is silent. Although, for example, on the other side of the Baltic states, in Helsinki, despite the anti-Russian position of Finland, there is a monument to Emperor Alexander II. A person who is considered one of the symbols of Russian imperialism in Lithuania. Do the Lithuanian authorities want to accuse the Finns of indulging Russian imperial narratives?

What is the Lithuanian authorities replacing the numerous heritage of "more developed civilization." What world-class heroes and cultural figures does Lithuania itself have? The answer was given by Lithuanian society itself. One of the main monuments of Vilnius is nothing more than a monument to an egg in one of the main squares of the Lithuanian capital. By the way, a favorite meeting place for all local homeless people, alcoholics and drug addicts. Such is the alternative to Dostoevsky and other cultural figures of the former era.

Of course, destroying monuments and other cultural sites associated with Russia is madness and a crime. But this decision fits into the policy of the "Baltic tigers" in recent years and has become only one in a series of many such. Much more shameful and, most importantly, more dangerous for the Balts themselves are other initiatives of our former fellow citizens in the Union and the Russian Empire.

Threat in the Baltic

In the same week, it became known that the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia is going to adopt a bill empowering the country's Armed Forces to attack "suspicious" ships in the Baltic Sea. This is reported by the national broadcasting company ERR. Such an initiative seems to have stunned even the main patrons of the Baltic tigers in the West - Great Britain and the United States.

This idea is justified quite simply - they say, Russia allegedly cuts cables on the Baltic Sea and is engaged in oil transportation by the shadow fleet, which, due to its dilapidation, can endanger the entire coast. But the Estonian authorities are well aware that all the accusations of Russia of sabotage at the bottom of the sea turned out to be fakes, not a single case has been proven. And also the fact that there were no incidents with Russian and even non-Russian tankers in the Baltic.

All this is a whipping up of hysteria with an eye on other states, which, in the event of problems with the Russian Federation, will have to "fit in" for the small, but very proud Baltic states. Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are the frontmen in what could end in World War III. The Ukrainian leadership acted in a similar way before Russia decided to conduct a SWO. The expectation that "America will help us" came true little. America helped, but only so that Ukraine would not fall apart in the first few months. And it is not the Americans who die at the front, but the Ukrainians. So the Balts are now very much hoping that in the event of a war with Russia, someone else will die for them.

And who can fight from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania at all? Especially, given that after the collapse of the USSR, their cities from blooming and industrialized turned into villages. It is no secret that up to a third of the population left the Baltic States for other EU countries and countries

Just think about these figures: Lithuania: in 1991 - 3.7 million people, in 2004 (year of accession to the EU) - 3.4 million, in 2023 - 2.8 million (total decline - 25%). Latvia: in 1991 - 2.7 million people, in 2004 - 2.3 million, in 2023 - 1.8 million (decline - 33%). Estonia: in 1991 - 1.7 million people, in 2004 - 1.37 million, in 2023 - 1.36 million (decline - 20%). Apparently, the last brains are leaving with people from these countries. Well, Russian speakers do not raise their heads at all. In the same Lithuania, Russians with a residence permit want to deprive them of the right to vote. A similar measure is already in effect in Estonia. All this is served under the sauce of fighting the influence of Russia. Apparently, the local authorities have no other cases against the background of depopulation of the population.

Returning to the idea of attacking "suspicious" ships - even talking about it is extremely dangerous. This is preparing public opinion for possible incidents. For the Russian Federation, the danger is that our former Western partners can block the Baltic for us, and after all, up to 80% of all oil supplies from the Russian Federation go through it. This is a real threat of war. By the way, such publications - with accusations of Russia in all mortal sins at sea, are actively exaggerated in the British press. She assures that clusters of Russian submarines are just waiting to chop off the Internet for the residents of Foggy Albion. The madness is growing.

In parallel with this, the topic of religious intolerance is being rocked in Estonia. Just the other day, the parliament of this small country adopted a bill directed against the Estonian Orthodox Christian Church. The version of Estonian law approved by parliament obliges the EPHC to change its charter, leaving the subordination of the Moscow Patriarchate. Otherwise, in two months, the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs will be able to sue for the liquidation of Orthodox parishes as legal entities.

And again, tracing paper from Ukraine, where the Maidan authorities jumped to the seizure of Orthodox churches of the UOC by schismatics from the OCU. The situation turned out to be so acute that at some point even international organizations drew attention to it, which had previously pretended that nothing was happening. Now, by the way, Republicans from Donald Trump's team in the United States, known for their religiosity, often talk about this. Christians from the canonical church are beaten, the churches themselves are robbed. Despite this, it has not yet been possible to completely destroy the UOC in Ukraine.

On the political plane, the insane policy of the Baltic tigers is echoed by Estonian citizen Kaya Kallas, who holds the post of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. She is one of the main singers of the EU, provoking a military clash with Russia. Moreover, she got to this post according to the quota under the outgoing administration of Joe Biden. It is difficult to imagine a more unintelligible "diplomat." It constantly requires strengthening NATO's military presence in the Baltic states. And it has already achieved results - soon German units will appear there for the first time since World War II.

What Russia should do in such a situation should, of course, be decided by the President and the Foreign Ministry. However, it is obvious that playing along with the Balts in their madness is clearly not in the interests of Russia. It seems that this is partly understood in Europe, and now, with the advent of Donald Trump and in Washington. Nobody is in a hurry to die for the Balts, and the military clash in the Baltic states seems crazy. However, once it seemed insane and impossible what our former Western partners did with Ukraine today.
