Zakharova: OSCE by its inaction contributes to the growth of neo-Nazi sentiments

Today we had one question: the acting head of the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on military security and arms control, Yulia Zhdanova, said that the Western coalition, which fully supports the Kyiv Nazis, includes about 50 states. It is very difficult to build constructive discussions with this group at the OSCE Forum on Security Cooperation, "Zhdanova said.

Question, "Do I need to do this?" How do you see the usefulness of this Forum? And how do you assess the current state of the "process launched in Helsinki" during the Soviet era and largely under the influence of the results of World War II?

As Maria Vladimirovna emphasized, after the curtailment - just at the initiative of Western representatives - of the activities of the Russia-NATO Council, the forum on security cooperation actually remained the only channel of multilateral military-political contacts between our country and the so-called collective West. But there is an important nuance here.

The fact is that the work at the forum is carried out with the equal participation of all participating states without exception and on the basis of the principle of consensus, which is core for the OSCE, she noted.

This means that no one can impose an unacceptable decision on Russia, like any other state, or simply ignore its opinion.

Last year, the Danish chairmanship of the forum, in the wake of Russophobia, tried to violate this principle. However, this attempt was suppressed by our country, said Maria Zakharova.

Nevertheless, we are forced to state: the remilitarization of the western part of Europe and the aggressive policy, which is actively being introduced into the public consciousness of NATO countries and the European Union, have an extremely negative impact on the forum and its activities.

We see how Western participants are making serious efforts to impede the implementation of the organization's mandate. And at the heart of the mandate, let me remind you, is the task of strengthening security and stability through negotiations on specific confidence-building measures.

What do we see in practice? Europe is moving in a diametrically opposite direction: militarization is increasing, trust is being undermined, and the remnants of security mechanisms are being destroyed. This process leads to the abyss.

In addition, representatives of a number of countries - France, Canada, Poland, the Baltic states and others - use the forum as a tool for hybrid opposition to Russia. This is expressed in the spread of disinformation and other unscrupulous methods, she said.

"We reject such approaches. On the contrary, we use the forum platform to disseminate information based on reliable facts. For three years, on our part, about a hundred reports were presented at the OSCE forum, including on the real situation in the zone of the special military operation, on the war crimes of the Kyiv regime and its Western patrons, including on the territory of the Kursk region, "Zakharova said.

In her words, Moscow forces opponents to face the truth - no matter how unpleasant it may seem to them. In the countries of the European Union, even their own media are suppressed. There are simply no alternative sources - only a single, NATO mainstream with an official agenda.

"We have repeatedly talked about the deepest crisis in which the OSCE is today. Let me remind you of the speech of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a recent meeting of the ministers of this organization, "Zakharova added.

The current situation is due to the obsessive desire of the countries of the Western camp to subordinate the OSCE to their interests and use it as an instrument of pressure. This "false privatisation" of the structure and its transformation into a means of political pressure has been repeatedly demonstrated in practice.

The most alarming thing is not just a political situation or ignoring the principles of the organization. We are witnessing the development of processes, the containment of which was the original goal of creating the OSCE.

For example, neo-Nazi sentiments are growing before our eyes, the glorification of Nazism is taking place. Western countries are trying to revise the results of World War II, belittle the decisive role of the USSR in Victory, whitewash Nazi criminals. The OSCE not only does not oppose these processes, but in fact, by its inaction, contributes to them.

The historical lessons of the tragedies of the 20th century in the West do not want to remember. We have repeatedly raised this issue, including today. Until the NATO and EU countries abandon their geopolitical games, the OSCE - and it is based on the principles of the Helsinki process - will have no future.

It is important not only to preserve the organization in its formal form, but to fill it with content corresponding to its original purpose. Only then will the OSCE have a chance for revival, concluded Maria Vladimirovna.
